Diopter Privacy Policy

Diopter ("we", "our", or "the App") is built with a strict on-device, privacy-first architecture. We believe your photographs, video footage, memories, and creative film recipes belong entirely to you.

1. Photos, Videos & Data Ownership

Diopter is designed as an optical instrument. All visual media remains under your absolute control:

• All Media Stays in Your Apple Photos Library: Captured photographs, RAW DNG digital negatives, and video recordings are saved directly to your personal Apple Photos Library using Apple PhotoKit.
• No Remote Servers: We do not operate external media servers, remote cloud storage, or user accounts. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or monetize your visual media or camera metadata.

2. Camera, Audio & Hardware Sensors

Diopter accesses hardware sensors exclusively to operate the physical camera pipeline:

• Live Optical Pipeline: Camera frames pass in real-time through AVFoundation to our custom Metal Shading Language pipeline for real-time 3D LUT grading, halation bloom, and film grain simulation. Processing occurs in volatile GPU memory and is never broadcast or streamed.
• Microphone: Audio recording is utilized exclusively during video capture mode and is embedded directly into local video files.
• Horizon Leveler: Device tilt, pitch, and roll data from Apple CoreMotion are processed locally to render the viewfinder leveler HUD. No telemetry is logged or transmitted.

3. Custom Film Recipes & Darkroom Processing

Diopter's chemical presets and digital darkroom run completely client-side:

• Local Emulsion Storage: Custom film presets and recipes are stored locally on your device.
• Peer-to-Peer Sharing: Recipe sharing via QR code or text payload is strictly peer-to-peer or via the standard iOS share sheet without intermediary servers or analytics tracking.
• Darkroom Re-Development: Applying film stocks and cinema LUTs to existing photos occurs entirely on-device via local Metal shaders.

4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Diopter Pro subscriptions (Monthly, Annual) and Lifetime unlocks are processed directly by Apple through StoreKit 2 and the App Store.

• All financial transactions are handled exclusively by Apple.
• Diopter never collects, processes, or has access to your credit card, bank account, or billing credentials.

5. Third-Party Analytics & Tracking

Diopter does not include third-party advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or data brokers.

• Zero Trackers: No Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook SDK, or ad networks.
• Zero Ad Tracking: Diopter never requests or tracks the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
